The Twelve

“The Twelve” from Christopher Ward finally arrived (after lengthy delays in LAX due to U.S. customs and DHL). This is the titanium version; it’s super light, very thin, gorgeous dial. The finishing is outstanding. This is my first purchase from Christopher Ward, very pleased!

I love my Christopher Ward! I was pleasantly surprised by the amazing quality to price ratio. Sorry yours got hung up in customs. I received mine in 2 days. Beautiful watch!

About 7” I believe; sorry I forgot to include that in the original post!

These are amazing. I wonder how much they are worth to buy now on a grey market

Sweet watch! My blue Ti is my fave of the 12 series. I'd heard bracelet has some sharp-ish edges - found that to be true?

Mind you, it was a steel version I'd heard that about, so maybe the Ti is less prone - my Ti watches all feel so smooth. Also, looks quite bright in the photo - is the color noticeably Ti when held beside a steel watch?

Excellent questions! So far I haven’t experienced any sharp edges on the bracelet. The titanium does have a bit of a tinnier/duller look than steel, and in all honesty I think the steel band and case look better. I went with the Titanium because the watch itself is thinner than the steel version and because I love the sunburst dial.

I do think the bracelet is not on par with what I’d expect at this price range. When I first put it on, it’s a little too loose but quickly expands and becomes a little too tight. I’ve since added an extra link, but now it’s just too loose. I don’t have this problem with steel bracelets and i’m wondering if titanium expands more?

It would be really handy to have some micro-adjustments but with the CW integrated bracelet it isn’t offered. :-/

Great info! cheers! I worded it wrong above BTW - I don't have a 12, but meant your colorway is the best of the bunch IMO.

Yeah, hard to tell TI appearance in a pic by itself. In pics on the CW site the Ti and the steel look the same. But in person I'm sure it isn't the case.

My GS 413 is very noticeably Ti in person, but like your 12, the dial kills it and more than makes up for slightly grayer color case.

Also, I absolutely love a light watch and always go TI given the choice.

the fit issue seems a classic problem of butterfly clasps. I've got perfect fit out of all types of materials, but had the odd butterfly clasp without micro adjust that I can't ever get happy with.

Total Sidebar - the one brand that kills it with best butterfly ever - Zodiac! The bracelet on the super sea wolf is a butterfly with a spring loaded clasp. It has about 5mm of stretchy 'springness' allowing perfect feeling fit with a butterfly. So comfy. Wonder if it's a patent? why isn't it super common?

I bought the same model/color and received it around the end of November. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly I received it, to be honest, since I wasn’t expecting to have it until January.

In comparison to my Zulu Time, the hand winding isn’t as buttery smooth, the disengaging/engaging of the screw-down crown isn’t as flawless, and the COSC accuracy isn’t as… accurate, but within specs. The crown-related observations are not concerning at all and feel WAY better than other watches I have.

Someone commented that the bracelet was sharp, and that maybe it was only the steel version that was like that. I do remember thinking my titanium version could benefit by being beveled on the skin side of the links, as they are on the outside face, but I don’t normally notice it at all.

Since I like strap/bracelet options, I also bought the FKM strap for mine. While very comfortable, I do have a few complaints with it. The 1st is that it’s a little long for my 7.25-inch wrist. If the moveable keeper was a little tighter fitting, it wouldn’t be an issue. The result, though, is that the keepr ends up inching back to leave the loose end of the strap flopping around.

More concerning is that I’ve had the spring bars let go, while wearing it, when I was sure it was fitted properly. I typically insert the end nearest my thumb first, then click the other end into place, then test. By grabbing that end and moving it around in circles near the lug, it almost always lets go. So now I insert that end first THEN bottom and test with small circles. This is the only way I’ve been able to properly secure it. Thankfully, the times it did let go, I was wearing long sleeves and I felt it, so it didn’t just fall to the ground. I almost always wear it in the bracelet though, even now that it is winter.
