Push/ pull crown tube?

I noticed my new watch has this little crown tube on in its push/ pull crown. anyone know what it’s for? I’m thinking maybe it’s to prevent the crown bending, but idk.

That sounds very plausible for it's purpose, similar to the plastic/metal shielding at the ends of electrical cords/hoses.

It could also just serve as an aesthetic choice so the stem didn't look so tiny/fragile next to that massive knob. (I know it's a crown, but someone at work irked me a minute ago and I had to use the term somewhere 😂)

Lol, all good. the crown is pretty massive. it’s actually part of the reason I chose it. think it looks nifty. but yeah you could be completely correct about the crown tube. could just be aesthetic. I would feel better if it was a bend preventative method though. ether way thanks for the reply!

I'd say that's just a screw-down crown. In normal operation it's supposed to be screwed down, and then that "tube" just disappears.

The stem is actually pretty fragile. That onion crown needs the tube for support from getting knocked off.

Yeah that would make sense. just a bit of support to keep the crown from popping off if bumped. thanks for the reply.

i actually took this photo in Position 2 (time setting position) because it was easier to get a photo of the crown tube that way. this is it when it’s pushed in. it’s absolutely a push/ pull
