I own them both

Hey WC! I’m the proud owner of both the Tissot PRX and the Christopher Ward The Twelve. Just wanted to say to you all after several months of owning both… they’re BOTH AWESOME! If you’re trying to decide which one between the two, I’d make the decision based on price. That might sound crazy but I’m telling you, if you got the coin for The Twelve, I couldn’t recommend it more. On the other hand, if you’re on a tighter budget, the PRX is perfect. I have zero complaints about either.

The PRX is broadly enough known and produced that there are 3rd party straps out there for you to mix and match with. I love doing that. The Twelve doesn’t have any third party exotic leather straps out there that I know of. But I have the metal bracelet and rubber strap for The Twelve and they’re great.

Question…. Does the Powermatic 80 have plastic parts. If so, that would be a deal-changer.

I feel like I’ve read about this: there may be two versions of the powermatic 80. The version used in the PRX does not have plastic?

There are in fact two versions of the Powermatic 80! One has plastic and one does not. The C07.111 has plastic in the escapement. The C07.611 is all steel parts.

But let me ask you this, can you figure out which version you have? I sure can’t! And regardless of the materials this watch is smooth and a lot of “watch” for the price!

Thanks for sharing. That prx with exotic strap looks so different to the usual images we see for those, really looks good.

Yes it does.

But watch @Max last video, he says quite rightly that so do some versions of the Omega Moonwatch (Delrin brake) & at the price of services compared to the purchase price of the watch these movements are essentially disposable anyway.

Why this assumption, that a movement containing a plastic component, wont last as long as an identical metal component? From an engineering standpoint, this makes no sense at all.

I think Teddy B has said before that the movement on the prx does have plastic while the one on the tissot gentleman does not. Either way, i own the prx and quite happy with it. Bang for buck at 450 usd. 2 years running and no problems yet. 🤗

I'm pretty sure the powermatic in the prx has a "polymere escapement".

So yes, plastic parts.

So yes, plastic parts.

Ahem, “self lubricating” parts

Even if it does have plastic parts I don't think it matters too much. No one is going to pay the price of the watch to have it serviced when you can just get a new one.

If it says 23 jewels it has a plastic escapement. 25 jewel does not have plastic escapement. I have Tissot with 23 jewels and Hamilton with 25 jewels. Accuracy is similar on both about -5 per day.

No, not that I know of.
