Pull the trigger?

So…I was killing time before a lunch meeting today and wandered into my local AD (how every good story starts, right?)

THEN I meet this lovely woman. Not like what you think; she’s my mothers age and was actually trying to sell me jewelry for my wife for Mother’s Day. We start talking watches, she brings me back to the Tudor case, and there it is…the elusive (in my market) black bay chrono panda.

The “affordable” grail that checks all of the empty boxes from my collection:

  • Panda dial (got it)

  • Wearability (got it)

  • Chronograph (will never use it but it looks great IMO…got it) Side note: I’m a huge Breitling fan, but they are mostly too big for my wrist. I know it’s a Breitling movement for a better price = reassuring

  • White sports watch (got it - also a missing piece in my collection)

  • Water aka small Children and their activities- resistance (got it)

However, I don’t need a new watch and I’m a reasonable human that understands I’m not just going to drop 6k on a watch because I got that fuzzy feeling when I saw it. BUT, I can’t stop thinking about it. The chance to get one is right there.

What would you reasonably minded enthusiasts do?

I saw one at my AD for the first time in years. I was able to resist. So can you.

I voted for “buy it dummy”! However, only if your bank account can handle it. Not everyone needs to be like me😁

That would be called an impulse purchase, right? Generally, I try to avoid doing those, for the sake of my financial health and sanity.

But if you let the heat of the moment pass and you are still convinced in a week or two when evaluating with a cool head, then...

As the owner of the black dial variant, I think this is one heck of a great watch, especially on the bracelet.

That said, I would highly recommend looking at second-hand options of the same model; from what I have observed, this watch now trends below retail on the second-hand market, and you will likely be able to snag one for around 75-80% of retail pricing this way.

All the best!

Brilliant watch. Go for it. You won’t regret it. I luv the reverse panda.

You can get a beautifully used one for much less to go that route then you can buy two lol

Wait for just 15 days. If you still feel the heat, then go and get it.

Great watch but would not buy from AD without discount as you can get them for way less than FRP on grey.

If you’re on the fence enough to be asking then likes of us what to do, I say stay on the fence. It’s still a mass-produced watch in a softening market. Availability will only increase and you’ll be able to grab one if you decide you really do want it. Or, as many have said, grab a clean one used or grey so if you end up regretting it you can resell it without taking much of a hit.

Only way I would buy it:

A) I have the funds and can afford it

B) know I would have the support from the wife

C) really unsure - refer back to #2.

End of the day it's your decision and good luck to you.😁
