Finally gonna get a Rolex!

After many decades of wanting the 50th Anniversary model and thinking it was unattainable I’m finally jumping in. Talked to my AD today and he said come tomorrow and try on the 41mm, to see how I like it and we will go from there. I asked him what the price of this watch would be and he told me MSRP. So while the wait will possibly be long, the watch will sell to me at MSRP. I’ve waited this long, so what’s one more year!

At least in the US market, official Rolex ADs are not allowed to sell any new Rolex watches over MSRP or they will lose their Rolex AD license, Rolex USA is very strict about this policy.

·

That’s what I had heard but it was confirmed today.

All I can say is get ready for the long haul. I've been on the 'list' for a RE2 and AK for a year now with 2 seperate ADs and nothing. As you'll be opting for this sub it may be a while. But who knows you might luck out. I've heard a lot of stories of short waits. Anyway I ended up picking up a pre-owned RE2.

I am waiting for the same currently :) i keep hoping it arrives soon! Of course Watchcrunchers will be the first to know when i get it. I am even thinking of buying a red strap already so I'll be ready for 🎄 haha

You better bring your credit card, sounds like he's gonna sell you one... I got my Submariner no date just like that, also a Datejust 41 same story... It's not as hard as you think as long as they like you

I don’t know, he talked like it could be next year before I would get it.

I guess they didn't like me. Looking back I shouldn't have worn my mankini. Oh well...

I’m curios, did they tell you it would be a while before getting one in because of demand and then when you arrived they offered you one?

Agreed the Rolex horror stories is not something I’ve had to experienced, I feel it is because they smell you a mile away. If you like watches you want more than just Rolex. And no don’t bug your sales rep contstantly where is my Rolex and check in every 3weeks? They will want to service you less if you do. Even high spenders get shifted around if they want to feel entitled.

If you are cool they are cool, but I like watches so 99% of the time I am asking for special/ new releases from their other rostered brands… Omega, Zenith, Tudor, GP… and never ask where my Rolex requests are. But when I do sersiously ask for one, they do tend to “show up” very timely.

Sorry Tobester didn’t mean to write a novel on your comment. I just read all these “tricks” and “how to’s” for Rolex ADs and it seems a lot of people are off the bat walking in with the wrong attitude and F**k these dudes mentality. People feel and sense that energy.

And I’ll add the whole wear a Rolex when you request one and dress the part is fake, I’ve worn everything else and always express that Rolexes Catalog is small and there only so many *realistically* that appeal to me.

But that’s my rant… go make a friend is my advice

Very true! My experience today couldn’t have gone better from my perspective. I walked in, was greeted and completely accommodated. Met with the rep. They asked me about myself, I told them. They asked me what I did for a living and other watches I owned, I told them. They then asked me what drew me to this model, I told them. I asked about the wait on this model and repeated what was told to me yesterday, around a year. They said hopefully it won’t be that long but couldn’t say for sure. Then we chatted further about various things. And as I was leaving they presented me with these two booklets. Does that mean anything? I don’t know, but all I can say is that the two other couples in there wanting a watch were not offered these books as they were leaving. Forgot to mention that I was able to try on the actual model I wanted too. It was a perfect size for my wrist at 41mm. So that was nice to have happen as well.

Update, Paul Thorpe, a former Rolex dealer in the UK and now is all over YouTube, told me it was a very good sign that I was getting the watch. We shall see if that turns out to be true.

Hope you get it soon!

Thanks, with every week that goes by I keep forgetting about it and maybe that’ll make it show up sooner.😅
