Visiting an emerging watch enthusiast capital - Thailand!

I'm in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, for work and decided to check out some watch shops as one does when you're on a work trip. While some may have perceptions of Bangkok's seedy side, which is still very much there, there is the beautiful cultural aspect as well as it's vibrant economic development. Thailand is becoming wealthier and they want to consume, consume, consume!

Watches are becoming a bigger thing here. There is an AP House in Bangkok, but not in Singapore. A. Lange and Sohne have a presence albeit a smaller boutique and an AD of independent watches just set up a new boutique as well. Finally, VC just opened a beautiful new boutique in one of the higher end malls, Siam Paragon. Of course, you have your various Rolex, Tudor, Tag, IWC, Patek boutiques and ADs as well as the more affordable side of things - from Seiko to Nivada Grenchen to Zenith.

Check out this historic VC minute repeater pocket watch that was owned by King Rama V from the late 1800s! He was a Vacheron fan.

Tag had this sleek Night Driver in their new, huge boutique.

At Sincere Haute Horology, or SHH as they're branded, they had an amazing selection of higher end Breguets, a Breitling B01 in a blue limited edition made for the Thai market, some crazy bejeweled, Vantablack, full rose gold Streamliners, and many Credors! This was the first time that I've seen these in the metal.

Eichi II - Porcelain dials either in white or blue, hand painted indices/credor name (crazy), spring drive, and hand finishing that rivals Philippe Dufour's legendary Simplicity watch.

Also, this limited Credor with a black lacquer dial and extremely thin (0.2mm) slices of mother of pearl. it doesn't photograph well, but the way it shimmers is beautiful.

I highly encourage anyone to go visit Bangkok's Siam Paragon, Central world for some solid watch shopping.

Did you spot any of the Thailand exclusive Grand Seikos at the boutiques? They released some stunning models recently!

Yes, central world has some grey market dealers as well on the 3rd? 4th floor in addition to pendulum, tag, Rolex, Tudor, etc.

I gotta check out rhb next time!

Thai exclusives??? I skipped gaysorn village this time, which has GS, AP, etc. darn. I gotta check it out next time. Didn't know they did Thai exclusives. I'm preaching to the choir, but look at these beauties!

They should've launched these globally! They would've been a massive hit.

From 2022

You’re right! I was thinking the SBGY025 and SBGY021 but didn’t realize they were released in 2022! Agreed they should have launched globally, but not my wallet!

Great post - thanks! Not been to Thailand for 30 years, so am curious to see it now. Great spots on the Credor and Moser pieces, would love to see that blue one IRL

Thanks. Thailand has dramatically changed since then, so you'll have to visit at some point. You can find that graffiti artist you like!

That blue credor is amazing. So intense the blue, like lapis lazuli. The price tag is also "amazing". Ouch
