New Louis Erard x Alain Silverstein collaboration

Just saw this drop and it felt overshadowed by the new studio underdog field watches. No one's talking about it.

I've always like the kitschy style, but didn't want to pay over retail for them. This drop has two watches you can get individually, ie the Semaine and the regulator, and one watch (tourbillon) that you can only get if you buy the whole lot of 3.

The tourbillon feels a bit out of place with this light hearted watch, so that's definitely not on my wish list.

The regulator version is cool but regulator style watches aren't my thing. Also doesn't have the large squiggly seconds hand, which is iconic.

The Semaine or the week, is definitely the one I want. It's cleaner without the hour sub-dial on the regulator and it has in place of the day of the week, different smiley faces. If I recall correctly, Monday is sad, Wednesday has a squiggly "smile" that looks frazzled, Friday is really happy.

I love the khaki green color vs the black or white of the original collabs. It has less of a stark contrast those. Looks less kitschy. Not sure if I'll get allocated one, but I think I was fast on the trigger!

What do you guys think? Too much like a toy or love his style?

Wait, Silberstein is still alive?

I may like the case. I agree that the green is better than black. The handset and primary colors are iconic and one of the more legible ways of doing this sort of thing, but still too twee for me.

I read a hodinkee article in 2021 and he was still alive at that time...

I had to look up twee to be sure but yes, I understand. Maybe after my Mr Jones Watch, I'm feeling more adventurous! I like the iconic style more than anything. It feel retro to me, which is what I like. I still write with a pencil and I have a manual pencil sharpener in my office! My team thinks I'm weird, hah!

Why does one have a different crown? The smooth crowns look like a pain to use BTW.

These are decidedly niche statement watches. And yeah, I couldn't deal with a regulator arrangement.

Good spot. The knurled crown disappears from the close up pic of the tourbillon version. Probably just a render. I hope it's not smooth! That makes no sense.

Ok there's one person here on WC that likes this besides me!

I love the errard by silberstein collection (and the regular L Errard watches) and have mulled over trying to get one for years.

Was on list for the time eater but they sold out B4 the page could open, probably for the best since couldn't really afford it 😂

BTW - Did you notice the tourbillon - is same one in the Yema tourbillon and the Skill tourbillon - Olivier Mory is quite prolific!

Oh wow, the yema tourbillon is quite nice and affordable! Love that colorful sub dial thing at the top. No idea what it does, but I like the colors. Kinda like the tag skipper has that extra color.

It's a tide indicator - and I f-ing love it! I WISH all my sports watches had one, would be super handy for ocean going kayak trips:

The Yema is a great price .. but for same price Horage is just now releasing an Autark sports watch in Ti with a micro rotor and flying tourbillon (no bridge in front) with full silicon escapement - so will be waiting for that one I think

(Ti, micro rotor, flying tourbillon, magnet proof silicon) > (tide indicator)

I keep an eye the swiss made independent watchmakers closely 😉

Very kind offer!

I'd love to get an Errard ... but must go on a watch buying break for a few months. If you've got an in at Errard, I may take you up on it once I can feel ok spending again ❤ Can't wait to see your NWA; the Semaine is my favourite by a country mile.

After all that discussion about holding off on yet another watch, here I am putting my name down for the Silberstein. My excuse was "it's special!" 🤣

Oh goodness, a tide indicator. Tag is going to likely launch a homage to it's old Abercrombie and Fitch watch with tide indicator. Yeah that's so cool.

Geeze what an amazing break! Enjoy the outdoors.

Oh and on Louis Erard, forgot to mention, I don't have a contact with them directly, but a decent relationship with an AD of theirs that gets decent allocations.
