Help me decide: Chopard Luc Sport

Please help me decide. I found a good value Chopard in a second hand store in Asia. Looks like its at least 1 grand cheaper than Chrono24. I don’t really dig the dial. But the microroter in the back looks amazing. Do you guys dig Chopard? How do you value this brand? Please let me know in the comments. Note: The size is 40mm, height is 10mm Please give me your honest opinions. Thanks!

If you don't dig the dial I'd steer clear. You may grow to love it but the odds are you won't.👍😉

·

Initial thoughts just based on the pictures and not seeing it in person.

  • The dial is interesting, but not particularly crazy about.

  • The end link - too much of a gap for my liking. And that just may be based on the photo

  • The impulse to buy is great, especially when discounted than where you see elsewhere. But remember, everything is discounted compared to Chrono that charges crazy fees

  • The sizing (height) looks good. 12mm?

  • I’m a fan of chopard if that helps. I like the dressier LUC XPS, but then think for a little more, I can get a VC instead. You can find good deals on the secondary market.

I'd never buy a watch with a dial I didn't really enjoy. Chopard has some great offerings and I agree, that micro-rotor is 👌. Very much respected among watch wearers in the know and wanting something off the beaten path but great quality, especially the LUC collection.

If you're going to use it the other way around, looking at that microrotor... the truth is, no, I wouldn't buy it because I don't like the dial.

Is it something you’ve been hunting for?

Is it something you’ve been hunting for?

Nope. I just looked at their watches with bracelet. And then I identified the cheap ones.

I love Chopard and their higher horology brand L.U. Chopard.

This watch just doesn't do it for me.

If you like the design, Chopard's movements are really well made. Many of the Chopard movements are modified ETAs or Sellitas, but the LUC are all in-house movements with some designed by Parmigiani.

Here are some from my collection...

A question about the Alpine Eagle.

They said its made from a special steel. It’s more scratch resistant.

Do you notice any difference at all? From regular stainless steel.

Thanks

Great question.

Yes - it is made from something like 90%+ recycled steel called Lucent Steel and it looks amazing and, so far, has not picked up any scratches. I'm pretty careful with my watches so you may need to also check with someone who may be harder on their watches.

Nice rotor, but wouldn’t get a watch for that point alone.

Alpine eagle 🦅- kaaaww!!

👌😍

I do have greater respect for the micro rotor lately, it’s apparently very difficult engineering when designing an original movement.

·

This one has always been on my radar. One day I'll own one.

That movement is rockin, but no.
