Holding these two watches side by side really made me question the price difference between the two. Personal taste aside the diver 300 imo just comes across of higher quality.
I'm team modern SMP300 all the way. That being said, as much as I like the aesthetic, nowadays I wouldn't consider a purchase because the watch is severely outdated in my opinion.
It needs a smaller size, better bezel action that feels premium, and above all it needs a modern tapering bracelet with an on-the-fly adjustable clasp. This 30 years old bracelet design is an abomination for a luxury watch of this price. I can live with the useless escape valve, although I would prefer it gone or much smaller by now.
I own both, prefer to wear the vintage. The SMP feels like an error in judgement should have taken a PO instead, not going to bother trying to sell the SMP. It is a robust watch but a bit dated.

There’s no competition in my eyes. The 300 heritage is a far superior watch.
Prefer this over the Pro, looks more "Omegary" to me.
Would sell everything for a 2254 reissue tho!

I went in to look at those two watches and came home with the more vintage version.
