The Art of German (Over) Engineering - Sinn Edition

Like many of us, I have countless alerts when products become available and it is always nice when I can get a deal on something I was not actively looking for, in this case, an H-Link bracelet from Sinn. I purchased a 104 a handful of years back for $1K and it came with two Sinn straps, but no bracelet. At that price, I figured I was still in the money if I pick up the bracelet later. It traditionally retails for $320 at WatchBuys, the US distributor of many German brands including Sinn, but I was being stubborn and since this watch looks good on just about any strap, I was in no rush.

Fast forward a few years and picked up a new one on eBay for $200 and came home today to two deliveries (the other to be shared later this week) including the bracelet. I knew it came in nice packaging, but wow, does Sinn know how to present a bracelet. Excellent materials, all the tools needed to make the change (don't need), and just very thoughtfully packed. In contrast, I have received many other straps and bracelets in plastic wrap in a paper sleeve. Yes, this is overkill and the paper sleeve is actually fine, but I thought this was a nice touch on Sinn's part and figured I would share.

I just came across a great deal on a white dial 104. I wasn't looking at all, but it was one of those too good to be true listings. I should receive it tomorrow. I'll let you know how it turns out.

That is great! Timing is everything on Sinn's when getting a used one. Hope it works out well. Who does not love a steal?

Thoughtful packaging indeed. Haven’t seen anything like that before.

I received the 104 a few days ago. I like it a lot more than I thought I would like it and I thought it was going to be very good. The guy I bought it from said he only wore a couple times. I believe it. It appears brand new. I like the looks, it's running at -2.1 seconds/day over the last three days, and I'm finding the countdown bezel very useful. This could be my only watch or part of a two watch collection. I always like to have a rough use watch like a Casio 5610 for those times when I doing things where I don't want to potentially crap up an expensive watch. In my mind, the Sinn 104 is a definite winner.

That is awesome. Definitely an awesome watch. Congrats!
