Damn! Seiko fanboys are another breed. They could come out with a sundial and call it “retro inspired” and y’all would pay $500 for it and call it a great value.

It actually is almost an exact replica of the original minus the case and movement. Some people want vintage watches but don't want to gamble with the condition and or servicing. The vintage water resistance is almost non existent and these are better movements. Whether you're looking for a vintage seiko, Heuer, Citizen, Omega, Nivada Grechen etc, you're almost better off getting a new one vs the a vintage especially if you want the dependability/water resistance. You're paying about the same and maybe less for a new one after servicing especially.

If I wanted to buy a Seiko, I could afford it. I just don't see the value proposition. I did recently clean up my grandad's Seiko quartz from the late '80s and pop in a new battery. It runs great and looks mint. No knock on Seiko's quality, again I just can't get behind their pricing model. They know there're folks out there that will pay it, so the marketing department is losing no sleep over my refusal to buy their wares. Also, I have no qualms with purchasing from AliExpress, either, so my feelings aren't hurt. To each their own. I am free to make observations about the folks speaking the gospel of Seiko as if they are paid to advertise for them, as you can call me an AliExpress fanboy.

These models in 5kx cases are only $375. Same price as every other Seiko 5 models.
Only the single reissue SRPK17 with the different case is $440.

That changes everything. The all silver would be my choice.
I like the middle one, the colours around the bezel and chapter ring work for me.
Love them but I want to change the bracelets to something else…
