SOTC 2024

Just wanted to share my trimmed collection for 2024. I’m not sure if anyone is interested in my small collection but I’m kinda enjoying the reduced collection as im able to wear and spend more them with each and every of my watches.

Started off the year with 6 watches and added a few along the way. Gone in the collection were my Brew Metric, Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical, Seiko SPB317 Slim Turtle, Seiko SPB143 ‘62 MAS’, and one of my earliest Seiko- Seiko 5 SNZG15. These were good watches but after more than 10 years of collecting, I guess I wanted to keep a small collection of watches that brings a smile to me when I wear them.

And after much consideration, I decided that these 5 are the watches that I would wear most and brings me most joy! And to start of 2024, my collection consist of:

  1. Seiko SKX007

  2. Chopard Mille Miglia Jacky Ickx Edition 3

  3. Tudor Black Bay 58 (my daily watch)

  4. Seiko SBBN017

  5. Seiko SBDB009 ( my latest addition and easily my favourite 😎)

Just wanted to share my journey with you guys since I joined WC. To many of you this may be a boring collection but they bring me great joy wearing them. Cheers everyone and have a great 2024! 🎉🎉🍻

Cool, prefer a small focused collection too. Nice 👍🏻👍🏻

Wow, very similar to my journey thus far. I also sold my Hammy KF, SPB313 and SPB143. Kept my SKX007 and BB58. I’ll have a 5 watch rotation by the end of this year but my two most worn are my BB58 and GS SBGN003. Nice collection!

So, question for you. I have a skx007 that I’m very happy with that fills the diver spot in my collection. However, I love both the SPB143 and the SPB313 slim turtle and have considered buying them way down the line. Having owned and sold those watches, what’s your experience with them as compared to your skx? How about compared to each other? Thanks!

A charming collection, it shows that you lean towards sports and diving, it has my grail, the BB, it is not a collection for me, I miss a dress watch, but for you from what you say it is perfect, congratulations , I would like to see that collection in a box.

For me the Slim turtle wears better for my wrist vs the 143 and it’s also a thinner watch. I got the 143 as the 62 MAS was every Seiko diver fan’s favourite. The SLA was too expensive so when the 143 was released, I got it. Unfortunately it never seemed right on my wrist. It’s heavy and kinda tall? Yeah I have taller watches but that’s different 😅.

The slim turtle on the other hand wear very well and wears great with almost all straps. I really liked it but in the end I sold the slim turtle as it was another modern diver as a daily watch and I already have the BB58 for that. So I I sold it.

Now the SKX007, the watch that started all this for me, is a great watch till today despite all its flaws. Will be keeping it due to sentimental reasons AND It’s a watch I still wear regularly and can still do everything.

It’s just a handsome watch.

Thanks. The BB is such an easy watch to wear. It’s tough, accurate and quite a strap monster! And the lume… 😍. Hope you get yours soon 👍

That's right friend, every day I want to have it more, the process to obtain a piece is fascinating, if it were easy it wouldn't be fun.

True! Got hit by the Seiko Tuna bug early this year and those Tunas needed some hunting 😅. The process makes us appreciate the watch more.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, the thickness of the 143 really seems to be its Achilles heal. Good point about the slim turtle. At this point considering the newly released SPB411 navigator timer as it would fill the gmt spot in my collection and has that classic cussion case.

This is my exact experience as well! Liked the 313 better than the 143 but the 007 started it all and will never leave my collection.
