NWA- Tudor Pelagos 39

I sold my black bay 58 and a couple others to get this beauty, that I’ve been lusting over since it came out. So far I love it, but I will say the edges on the bracelet and clasp are so much sharper than I would have imagined. I don’t know if I’ll get used to it, hate it or decide to sand them down ever so slightly. I can’t find much fault in this watch otherwise. If anyone else has the same gripe or advice about the sharp edges, please comment! And I did order a half link from uncle straps, since I feel like I just can’t get the perfect fit- but it’s very close.

Love the Pelagos. Other than the sharp edges how does it feel on the wrist?

I found the edges of the clasp and bracelet on my Omega SMP300M so sharp and uncomfortable I nearly returned it. But, after a few weeks of wearing it all day every day, I got used to it and now it’s not an issue at all. I’m sure after wearing your Tudor for a while, you’ll adjust to it too.

Also, the SMP has a stupidly long clasp, just like your P39, I ordered an extra half link to allow more articulation around the end where the divers extension is. This definitely made the world of difference.

Love the P39, definitely on my wish list. Enjoy!

It's the perfect every day watch for me. My most worn watch. Enjoy it.

I just got my Pelagos 39 last week. I took a nail file to the clasp, and it is now a perfect watch! Just a little off the corners... also got the half link, but so far haven't needed to install it. I had such a hard time with my BB36 fit that i ordered it preemptively.

congrats!

I’ve had mine for several months. It’s really a terrific watch; the on the fly adjustment is tops.

It is so light, titanium, that is almost unoticable.

I’ve sanded down plenty of watches and bracelets over the years. Not sure why so many companies do such sharp edges. Yes, it’s impressive from a manufacturing standpoint, but it’s not comfortable in practice. I typically take some emery cloth and start sanding away. I don’t bother with the real coarse stuff. I typically start with the finest available and see if I can get where I need it to be. If not, I’ll go to the medium coarseness and hit it a few times and then go back to the fine grit. Go very slow and check your work often. I’ll usually do this over a few days so that I can “test” my work. If it needs more, give it more. It shouldn’t take much though. If you have any questions about my process, let me know!

I am tempted to sell my BB58 for the P39. I definitely see the attraction.

I had to get the Uncle half link and file the clasp of my BB58 too. I was almost ready to ditch it but decided to give it a chance and work on it. So far, so good.

I liked the BB58 a lot, but I’ve always loved the 70s era snowflake dial Tudor sub. When I bought the BB58, they only had the 42mm Pelagos and I settled for the BB because it fit better. Then the pelagos 39 came out and I always wished I could have bought that first. The P39 is the closest watch to those old Tudor subs, without a $10k price and the downsides of buying vintage.

If you want to go up to a 42, adjustable clasp to get the perfect fit, I’d love to work something out if you’re interested.

I have a 6.5” wrist. 39mm is about as big of watch as I can handle.
