More watches and whisky

Happy Saturday! Time for more whisky! Pairing my weathered titanium Seiko with a Benromach.

Nutty, hint of engine oil (dirty notes), dark fruit, cola on the nose. Savoury, sweet, slight bitterness, with some nuttiness on the palate, with a medium long, warming finish. Alcohol is prominent both on the nose and palate at 60.5%. It’s a rough and tough drink.

If you’re into Scotch, you should give Benromach a try. It’s still a sleeper. If you like Springbank and Kilkerran (Campbeltown whisky), this has the similar dirty notes but is readily available without any crazy secondary prices.

For the uninitiated, Springbank is a distillery with a relatively small output that can be very difficult to get at retail.

The pic is just a little too blurry to read the logo, what watch are you pairing with it?

Also, as far as finding a bottle of Benromach, I’ll keep an eye out, but I can’t say I’ve ever seen it in my state. 😢

If you can, get the cask strength releases, their regular bottlings are geared for the mass market and can be a bit meh if you are an experienced scotch drinker.

Cheers! Ive been chugging beer everyday for the past week so no booze for me for a little while, but I raise my bottle of water (🤢) to your health!😄

To good health! That’s most important!

Good to know. I’ve really only dabbled in Scotch, spent way more time learning bourbon. But I’ve kind of been getting into it lately. If I see it, I’ll definitely grab a bottle!

It’s a very different beast to bourbon. 😅

Love whiskey. Always found it odd the descriptions of the smell and taste are not appetizing…engine oil?

Salud.

Ahhh… you have not delved into the world of scotch yet.

The bog standard Glenfiddich and Macallan 12/15/18 are geared towards the mass market (perfectly fine), so will be blended for smoothness and pleasant taste profile so that the taste is accessible to the masses.

Those are the brands I know…and afford. You can buy it in bulk sizes at Costco…or get the Kirkland Signature, bottled at the same place 🤣😂🤪
