I think that you made the right choice. If you like it and can afford it, then get it and wear it, which is what you are say you do. In my opinion a Longines watch doesn’t need to be mistaken for something more expensive, for it to be more special. I find it the watch and the brand to be special enough to stand on their own. Also, who cares if some thinks it’s a cheap or more expensive watch? At the end we should wear what we like.
In my personal experience, people who have told me that my “small watches” are too small or not manly enough “do they make that in men’s sizes?” … these comments are by people who don’t really know much about watches and/ or elegance. Perhaps even, they like big watches as they might need to compensate for something else.
In any case. I, like you, wear my watches for me, not for others. If I like it and I can afford it, I get it.
