One Watch to Rule Them All

If you had to only have one watch for the rest of your life, what would it be? Would it be a go-anywhere-do-anything watch? Would it be a sentimental or family heirloom piece? Would it be a smart watch (God forbid)? The most valuable? Vintage? A beater? Diver? A Rolex now given their ever increasing costs later? As a space nerd and watch nerd, I have to go with my new Speedmaster. It’s not a great GADA watch with the hesilite, but it checks all my nerd boxes, and I just bought it to commemorate my upcoming Air Force 20-year retirement. So it’s already sentimental to me even though it’s new, and my kids ask me all the time, “Daddy, what time is it on the Moon?” Hahaha Hopefully my watch will mean something to one of them one day too! If I wasn’t such a space nerd, I’d probably choose a Rolex Explorer as a good GADA or the Tudor Black Bay 58 Blue. Hopefully someday I can acquire those three watches as my perfect three-watch collection.

I wish a Rolex Explorer, a Black bay 54, or a Ranger. A GADA

Dive watch , not to heavy , not to thick, silicon band( and all the others, nato, metal ect..) . 200 is fine 300meters resistance would be a plus. Quartz / solar over automatic for a "single dive watch". I would go top or

notch within entry level luxury, Tudor , Victorinox , Tissot , or whatever.

For me a GADA and beater are the same , so for me it's either my Aqua Terra quartz or Seiko Willard.

Maybe I should have clarified, GADA “for you”. True everyone’s lifestyle is different but I would think there’s a GADA out there for everyone. Although one could argue that your lifestyle does change over time (single life, family life, retired life) so maybe that 1 GADA would change over time. I wore a Victorinox Chrono Heritage Quartz for 12 years, in Afghanistan and all. Love that watch! But now I’ve upgraded! I’m thinking maybe a Datejust when I retire? But I guess that’s not really answering my own question for a GADA for the rest of my life.

I couldn't narrow mine down to a dozen, so down to one would find me laughing hysterically. But it would be something interesting, like a chrono or VC Overseas. For me Gada doesn't exist, beater really is a watch that I don't care about if it gets beaten up, and I don't have any sentiment attributed to any of my collection.

For me right now it’s my Tudor BB. However another day it might be the bronze 43mm version. However on yet another day, hopefully in the near future, it will be the Rolex ref. 126610LV Submariner
