Let’s talk about the 24h of Le Mans Daytona

This watch is epic! From the Paul Newman Dial, 100 in red, and wait!! Is they a Pelagos 39 style Sun ray dial on a super expensive/rare Daytona?!!

This new reference has some really cool vintage details, and this anniversary model takes it to another level!

Curious to see what are your thoughts!

Cheers!

Actually Paul Newman has nothing to do with the design of the “Paul Newman” dial. Many exotic Rolex dial designs came from Singer …

In addition when the original PN style Daytona was put on the market, it was a poor seller for many many years. This contributed to the rarity of this watch.

Another proof celebrity and marketing are major drivers of certain watch’s popularity.

Agreed! Some singer dials are really nice and not as well known as this one!

I don't like it. It doesn't suit their modern brand image or at least what I associate with it. They aren't nistalgic, no museum, no heritage crap. Just incrementally moving forward... I don't even like the anniversary commemorative stuff that Rolex does with military and police, those days where Rolex was a tool are gone and Rolex has embraced its new Rolex as jewlery, let alone this. I am probably wrong but it's how I feel 😉 but I am happy for anyone who likes it.

On the plus side, those that always claim Omega copies Rolex might not like this. Well, it may not be as tacky (which to be fair fits 90s Bond) but the red 100 immediately reminded me of this...

I think this is a fantastic looking watch, and I generally do not like Daytonas.

Yes, gold makes these watches too heavy to be worn by a normal human being. Not that it matters, if you have a spending history high enough to get one of these watches you got enough money to hire someone to carry it around for you.
