How [where] to find watchbands with specific tapering?

One of my watches, the Lobinni 1888, came with a terrible band - yes it's "genuine leather" but plasticky, and squeaking like the three little pigs just when the wolf got them.

Naturally, I want to replace the band. With 20mm lugwidth that should be easy enough, but I want to keep the clasp, mostly because its Lobinni-branded. [Not sure whether it is really a good clasp, but one replacement band with clasp that I tried had a worse clasp.] Problem: the band tapers from 20mm to 16mm. So the replacement too needs to be 20mm at the lugs to fit the watch, and 16mm at the buckle end to fit the clasp.

Almost all replacement watch bands I have come across taper by 2mm, not by 4.

Where do I find a replacement band of such dimensions?

Just to add to that: I noticed on ebay some sellers had additional tapering options, typically associated with being compatible with certain watch brands. Indeed, the tapering 20->16 makes an appearance there [for Montblanc], at a higher price point I would normally pay but this is what you get for special requests.

But my original point still stands, because I merely stumbled across that listing, I still would not really know how to either search for that, or which retailers [or watchband brands] have this as a common enough option to avoid the needle-in-haystack strategy.

Hirsch has some. I don’t know if they are according to your taste. Use the filter function and you will see the options for 20/16. Good luck.

That's one to bookmark.

In this case I would not use them, because they only seem to offer bands for buckles, not for clasps, and the Lobinni has a clasp. One can use a for-buckle band with a clasp, but the band ends up with a hole where the thorn would go. That does not interfere with the functionality, but when you are paying north of £40 for a strap you do not want compromises like that.

Can you show a picture of the Lobinni clasp?  I'm having a tough time picturing it.

as you can see I have already taken the band off, no intention to wear this on the old band again

watchgecko/geckota, they always list the taper for the straps they sell.

I had a look. These two are not as helpful as Hirsch.

Yes, they state somewhere in the spec what the size at the buckle is - but even most ebay sellers do that. What I cannot do, and can do on Hirsch, is to search for a particular taper, I can only search for size, and then its needle-in-haystack time again.

Oh I see… Just hop on Etsy and have one made to your specs

I use Martu Leather for all my custom straps.  You can custom select all the dimensions you want.

You might also try strap atelier.  I've owned their horween and their pueblo leather.  They are very good for the price and do a 20mm to 16mm taper.

when I googled them weirdly only their facebook page showed up (I don't do facebook), and lower down the search list was "atelier romane", a more pricey affair, but apparently someone different. Yes, they are there at www.strapatelier.com, and have similar proces to the ones listed here earlier.
