Epoch brand?

I just noticed an oddity about the watch brand Epoch.

There is a Swedish brand of that name whose watches sell about in the £1000-3000 range, so the pricepoint of entry level luxury watches.

There is also a brand named Epoch on AliExpress, who seem to specialise in watches with Tritium tubes, priced from about £90 to £600, which is rather high end for Ali. To add confusion, some stores on Ali list a different brand for a watch having Epoch on the dial - I saw Xonix and Beihua, as well as Epoch itself.

Normally, one might expect that Ali's Epoch are fakes, but no: the branding is a little bit different, and the watches look completely different. If anything, the Swedish Epochs look more Chinese than the Chinese Epochs, with gemstone markers.

So, I wonder how this situation of two different brands with the same name arose. Does anyone know?

Looks to be two different brands. But the "luxury" brand is WAY overpriced for what they offer. WAY OVERPRICED.

TBH the Swedish brand was not on my radar at all. But we had this watchcrunch discussion on loom, several people advocated for tritium... I knew there were tritium watches on Ali, so I was checking them out and saw all those Epochs on Ali, googled Epoch watches in general and this Swedish brand popped up.

I had this a few years ago, I only paid £30 for it off eBay

it had tritum tubes and two lug holes so you could use different designs of strap, I sold it for £90 as the specs were incredible for the money, at the time I couldn’t find a shred of information about it, wish I’d kept it now.

£30 is incredibly cheap for that. The cheapest Tritium on Ali is £90, and that is a plain quartz.

This precise model I haven't seen elsewhere, but something similar to that would set you back at least £130 on Ali.

It wasn’t new, it was used off eBay but virtually new, I guess because at the time there was no information about the brand available I got it for that price because no one else bid on it, as I say I wish I’d kept it now.
