Missing something here?

Can you imagine I collected all these watches in just 4 years? By the way, I have two more that did not make it into the shot because of not enough spaces in the watch box. Funny story here, I bought this box to make sure I do not exceed myself, going out of control, buying too many watches and as you know by now: It did not work. Next week will be my 5th anniversary living in Germany and I got my first mechanical watch to celebrate one year here. If you are curious, that was the STOWA Flieger Klassik 40 you see in the top left. I just started in a new position in my company and I am celebrating 5 years living in Germany, so those are the perfect reasons to get me a new watch. A truly and proper dress watch. Can you guess what I have in mind? What do you think is missing here?

A. Lange & Söhne ?

I would love to but those are out of my league... they are ridiculously expensive in my opinion.

Meistersinger ?

Congratulations! As dress watch for your new role, I would suggest my trying a differently shaped piece like #jaegerlecoultre Reverso (https://www.watchcrunch.com/NiroZed/posts/wruw-2024-02-06-3d4363d4-7ldjwwct-318119) or a Cartier Tank

In general, as to “missing” something, You might wsnt to consider adding a diver. To complete your collection’s vintage classic vibes , your can consider something likes Tuforblackbsy58, longines legend diver, a JLC Polaris a , the Oris 65

Longines?

Only 14 watches in 5 years? That’s impressive. Many of us would have more. Haha. Being that you mentioned a dress watch will be coming and seeing your taste from your box, I’d guess that it would be a Grand Seiko. Whatever it is, I feel your excitement and am happy for you. Carry on my good man.

You are totally right! After lots and lots of consideration I have decided my next watch will be a Cartier Tank. Thank you for your suggestions and ideas.

Longines?

No, I will go for a Cartier Tank. I believe it will nicely complement my collection.

Thank you, I have decided to get a Cartier Tank. I believe it will nicely balance my collection. I wish you all the best to you too!

Maybe you should get a “his and hers”.

Also a very good guess but after lots of consideration I have decided my next watch will be a Cartier Tank. I believe it will nicely balance my collection.

Maybe a Nomos?

·

A G-Shock?

·

Very cool collection! If you were to add any more, I would say a diver (take your pick for which one) and a Cartier tank. Just two additions that would add some real variety to an awesome collection

·

Maybe a vintage omega. Buy what you like 👍

·

Lol, I think most of us have the same problem. He he he. But I have two sons that loves watches, so I think they will be taken cared of

·

Do you like Omega?

I will bring the collection down to 12 for three reasons. 1st because I made that promise to my wife, 2nd because I have three children and they can easily take 4 watches each after my death (my older boy already asked permission to do so) and 3rd because I feel in that way all 12 pieces will get the wrist time they deserve. I am crazy?

Godspeed with your plan! Looking forward to seeing which Tank you are going to acquire.

Do you like Omega?

It is indeed my favorite watch manufacturer. I have a titanium Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M GoodPlanet in my list.

My father had a beautiful pocket watch he had to sell when one of his business failed and he was in financial distress. I wish I have that watch with me now. I trust my kids will keep me in mind and remember me when they use my watches.

I do agree, buy what you like and wear it with pride. All watches are beautiful to my eyes.

Great minds think alike! I will go for a Cartier Tank as my next purchase 😁

A G-Shock?

I must admit I am cheating here because I bought my two boys a couple of gorgeous G-shock and I also wear them from time to time 😅

I see you like classic watches, I love omegas, and I have one that you have, flieger klassik

The Flieger watch was what started my madness for mechanical watches, a beautiful piece indeed!

A really great collection. The Cartier will be a great addition. I’m also adding a rectangular watch to the collection - but the other one (JLC Reverso). Interested to know what the two watches are that you’ve hidden from view? Also interested in your experience of owning vintage omega; I keep looking to buy one but get very nervous that a) I know nothing about vintage and suspect I could be a target for dealers to sell me Frankensteins and b) I’m not gentle on watches and fear a vintage watch would be in the watchmakers more than on my wrist.

The JLC Reverso is also a gorgeous piece, it was not an easy decision going after the Tank.

I do have some recommendations if you decide to go for a vintage piece: 1. Do extensive research on the piece you want to buy, if it is an Omega I can recommend you watch the YouTube channel "Timeless History Channel" from Deric (the Omega enthusiast). I don't even know how many hours of his videos I saw and how many post on vintage Omegas I read. 2. Find a trusted and certified watch maker with experience in vintage watches and make your watches checked by him/her, that is a great investment that will secure you did a good purchase. That saved my ass once when I got a vintage piece with mechanical problems which I was able to return and get my money back. And 3. Only buy from trusted and specialized vintage dealers which allow you to return your watch in case of problems.

Finally, in my experience vintage watches are not as fragile as we think. Those are robust and reliable pieces when properly cared. I do have special attention to water resistance and take care not to splash it and also not scratching the hesalite glass (plexiglass) because that is a weak point compared to most modern watches with sapphire glass. I hope this helps!
