Final update: so Bucherer had the watch evaluated by RSC in New York, who agreed the watch needed service. The watch was returned to me in early June (less than 3 months service time). I’m told that Rolex performed a complete service, but there wasn’t paperwork included. The Bucherer customer service rep said that Rolex doesn’t provide service cards with warranty service. I’ve found that to be true with other watches. I can tell from the silent rotor action, the winding, and the +1 second accuracy; that service was indeed performed.
Overall, I’m grateful that Bucherer stood behind the product. But I’m still annoyed that the watch was purported to be inspected by Rolex. They never would have let that go to sale. So, unsurprisingly, retailers hope that customers will just ‘make do’ with spit-polished and unmaintained products. I would buy from Bucherer again, but I would do so with a much more critical eye; and a demand for service documentation.
Final update: they sent me back the watch 4 weeks after I submitted it. They changed out the movement, even though they weren’t able to replicate the problem in their office. It’s running great now! Big thanks to Joe and Marathon for standing behind their product.
Thanks. This was outside of the new CPO program. Tourneau has its own pre owned program, so I dont think their now-Bucherer-owned stores are doing the CPO yet.
That’s my thought too. I asked to see the service paperwork when I first purchased the watch, and got a blank look in return. So I think this will be its first service in some time.
That’s the thing, I don’t know it’s service history. It has allegedly been serviced by Tourneau before I bought it, but the service center in Dallas (a mere 3 months later) said it did not appear to have been serviced.
