Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

I slowly started dreaming about a watch collection in 2021, and started collecting by the start of 2022 "officially" when I found my great grandfathers long lost Tissot T.12 Visodate Automatic from 1958. It all got "worse" when I started working at a jeweller store that also focuses on watches in February of 2022.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

I cannot recall any of the watches I had as a child, but the first "real" watch I bought as a teen was a cheap, DW look-a-like (that looked better than the actual DW). My "second" real watch was a Casio GW-M5610U-1BER, which I bought to use during basic military training.

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

I have the Tissot T.12 Visodate Automatic, but I have no record of any history or anything. I have a few family pictures of my great grandfather wearing it, but that's about it. My other watches also lack history, but the Tissot is the one closest to heart.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Don't rush anything. Get something cheap-ish to start with like a Casio GA-2100-1A1ER. $110 and will last a lifetime if not more. Try asking family members if they have any old watches laying around, you might find some treasures. Make sure to enjoy each piece, and not buy just for the sake of it. This way the watches will have some history to them, making them more valuable to you! It's also fun to save up just a little at a time to eventually have the money to buy a luxury watch also, if you are committed. Enjoy!

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Not sure.. I have been looking more into different Seiko models and TAG Heuer.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

I think that right now, it has to be the Rolex GMT Master II "Root beer", ref. 126711CHNR. The steel combined with the rose gold with a black dial surrounded by the black and brown bezel just really speaks to me. Never been a fan of actual root beer, though.
