Cheap Zulu strap

Earlier this year I bought a “leather” zulu strap for less than $2 from an online store. When it arrived, the quaity was so bad I still felt that I overpaid. I wasn’t expecting real leather of course but what I got was this stiff, plasticky thing:

I threw it in a drawer and promptly forgot about it. I came across it again last night while tidying up and decided to try distressing it. I mean, there was no way I could make it look worse, right? Here’s the result; looks kinda nice on my old beat up SKX007:

It’s a definite improvement, I think. The distressing also made it really soft so at least it’s confortable. Considering what I started out with, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

Some people pay good money for "faux-tina" aka fake patina. You proved it can be done for much less.
