...I think I like a modern Tag??

Went to a local AD and tried on the Carrera Glassbox in both the blue and black dials. Unfortunately, they did not have the Skipper on hand.

I can't get the black dial out of my mind.

I may even prefer it over a Speedy - blasphemy, I know.

Help.

Not blasphemy at all! They are different watches (besides being both chronographs). The Carrera looks amazing. It is one of my favorite current watches.

Yes they look great but are a bit thick so you need to try one on in person. Its good to see Tag lifting their game again to justify their pricing.

No blasphemy, Tag Heuer chronos have pedigree and are nice. Buy and wear what you want - the opinion of others, esp us enthusiasts, means literally zero when it comes to you enjoying a watch. Show off your watch when you get it though - not doing so would be the act of a heretic! 😜

In the coming years I’ll be stocking eBay for the modern glass box carrea. Retail is a bit too high for my liking but I have a feeling one day you might be able to snag one for substantially less.

I prefer the Carrera as well because I haven't found a Speedy that wears comfortably on my wrist. They all feel a bit lumpy to me although I love how they look. This Tag wears wonderful and looks even better in person than in picks🍸

These really are great looking watches. I don't think you can go wrong. Do you have any thoughts on the date position on the black dial being at the 12 position? Some people hate it, others love that it's direct homage to the original.

I thought I would have a problem with it when looking at it online but it wasn't much of an issue in person. It's visible at most angles but not obtrusive.

Ideally, I would have preferred the Heuer logo and no date, but neither of these were a deal breaker on the wrist.

Have you seen this? 60th anniversary LE. If I was getting one, this would be my preference, but very hard to find:

I’ll take a Carrera over a speedy any day. Modern or vintage. The Carrera is an elegant chronograph.
