Dress Watch

If a dress watch has a day-date function, is it still a dress watch? Lemme know your thoughts.

Not strictly, but it's fine. Cyclops is a no-no though.

I was under the impression that a dress watch is merely on the thinner side, and it typically is on a leather strap.

Some people say it has to be gold, some say it has to match your other metals (eg. - wedding ring), but there aren't too many "rules." Some say the watch has to be rectangular, some say it has to be minimalist. Some say white dials only.

I think your best bet is to always ask a female family member or friend. Just ask if your watch looks good with your outfit. The goal of dressing up is to look sharp, and women's opinions are pretty much the final say if you look attractive or like a ragamuffin.

If you own a handful of watches, try on a few, and she can tell you what looks like it goes the best with what you're wearing.

There really aren't that many rules, and nobody cares about them anyway. I mean, smart/ Apple watches get worn with evening dress which is slightly absurd.

Case: Slim; usually smaller in diameter than standard day wear; no shape restrictions; preferably precious metal but not really necessary; bezel should be smooth and polished.

Hands: Strictly just two; but subdial seconds and even central seconds are ok.

Complications: Strictly none; date is just about ok. Day is not.

Strap: Leather; some slim precious metal; not jubilee etc.

Yes. Not all well dressed people know the date without looking.

If a car got a electric system it would still be a car just like how mcdonalds ice cream would like to be a elefant :)
