Opinions on vintage Omega

I'm thinking about adding a vintage Omega to my collection. I always wanted a pink gold dress watch and this would be a good chance. Right now I have a Ref. 14707 with the 268 calibre from 1961 on my radar. Maybe there is a pro out there who can spot out if it's all right with this piece. I think from the pictures that the crown is not original but the rest looks good to me. Does anyone have a opinion on the 268 calibre, especially for vintage watches and service? Are there reliable? Don't know much about this model but in my opinion back then in the 60s it has been a high end model or even a grail piece for there customers if they did it in 18k pink gold, or am I wrong?

I think they are stunning one even makes an appearance in my favourite movie series (Godfather), unfortunately I would struggle with many vintage watch’s due to the small dial size but it doesn’t stop me from appreciating them

The dial looks good to me, not refinished, which is probably the biggest worry on a higher-end vintage watch. Another issue with vintage, especially gold, is an over-polished case. Gold being particularly soft, will have its crisp lines ruined by overzealous polishing.

I would use Google Images to search up other Ref. 14707 watches and compare that watch to others that have sold or are being offered for sale.

I actually do have a Ref. 121.002 in steel with a caliber 269. The cal. 269 was the last iteration of the 30mm hand wind movements from Omega. They are excellent quality movements that can trace their lineage back to the original cal. 30 from 1939. As Omega continued to improve on that movement they introduced new versions of it.

It's a simple, hand wind, time-only movement with a center seconds. Just about the easiest movement for a watchmaker to service, so servicing costs will be quite reasonable.

Here is mine:

Luckily I'm blessed with tiny wrist, so I have no problem wearing them. At least one good thing in having tiny wrists 😅

Thank you so much for your opinion. It helped me a lot. In the next week I will go to the store and inspect it in person. What a nice watch you have there!

Awesome pick but without photos of this piece, actually nobody believes you! 😜

I was searching for a Geneve model too, till I found this piece. Looking forward to your shots of this beauty. 😊

Glad to hear that. This is an awesome piece you're wearing. Tritium Dial is superb 👌I have an appointment on Thursday with the dealer. To be honest, it would be the watch for my 30st birthday. On my 20st birthday I promised myself, that I get myself my first gold watch for my 30st birthday. Here we are. The problem is that my 30st birthday is 13 month away. Don't know how to handle this situation right now, still figuring out...😔
