Watch Thefts In The U.K. & Abroad

Top of the morning to you Crunchers! I have some questions for you guys and gals:

I heard about the unfortunate killing of a man that was jumped and stabbed for a watch that ended up to be a FAKE.

What are your thoughts on this? For those that are out and about at ANY time of day and night, do you wear your pricey pieces and just keep an eye out? Have you ever been a victim of watch theft? Oh, and if you do know a lot about this subject, any advice you can pass on to the rest of us Crunchers?

Thank you and have a great and safe week out there 😎

I’m a Londoner and can confirm it is perfectly safe to wear your watches 95% of the time. For that 5% you just need a bit of street smarts about you and be able to read your surroundings.

Keep them covered and you should be fine. Always remember that any waiter, driver, shop owner or anyone you come into contact with may be on the lookout and alert others about what is on your wrist!

Depends what I'm doing. If I know that I'm going for quite a few beers in the City then the wrist gets a beater and the Monaco stays at home. If I'm out for a nice tame meal locally with the missus then the beater stays at home.

I live in Netherlands but I'm Brazilian from Rio de Janeiro. You don't know the meaning of violence. There robbers point a gun to your head to steal an old Samsung mobile. Wearing watches walking around only very cheap ones. Good watches are for trips abroad or very special situations. Never never never wear a good watch in the street there.

Carioca! I felt safe when in Rio, although I wore a G-Shock. There was a guy on a bike cycling by along Copa beach stealing sunglasses from people’s faces though.
