Fake Watches Anyone?

Hello Crunchers! So, who on here has bought a fake watch without knowing it was a fake? And what was the outcome of the situation?

Have at it in the comments. Would leave to hear your experiences.

Iโ€™ve probably purchased something on the order of 50+ Chinese super reps over the years, either to a) long-term test drive a watch before buying the real deal, or b) as gag gifts for family and friends.

Theyโ€™re fantastic! Would whole heartedly recommend!

Got a fake Casio Mudman GShock years ago. Didn't know it was until it broke after a few months and found out after looking for the same model to replace it and discovered it was a completely made up model ๐Ÿคฃ

Where did you get it from and did you pay a lot for it?

Bought a MAS62 clone for$20. I almost expected a picture in a box. But I received a watch, an actual watch. It was mechanical, and it worked. These two items represent the comprehensive list of positive aspects of that watch. I took it apart, and now know what not to look for in a watch.

I had bought one but, I thought was a sterile "Rolex cookie Monster look, the pictures showed no writing. There was no mention of brand. Just a NH35 movement and measurement. Looked nice and I was very surprised when it came in a cheap looking Rolex box.. just be careful when by on online.. lesson learned.

That happens often. Seen a few YouTubers fall victim to this. They blur or remove the luxury branding of the watches in the photos to avoid having their listings removed, but they let you know they're replicas / fakes by showing Swiss Made, among other nods on the watch.

I bought Oris โ€œSwiss madeโ€ watches knowing they are fake. 30-40โ‚ฌ for good-looking mechanical watches, a bargain. I like them and wear them regularly.

I inherited a fake Rolex about 25 years ago from an uncle who passed away. 15 years ago I brought it to a watch store to take a look and they told me to get out, it was illegal and they didn't want it in their store. So strange, my uncles name was engraved into the back of it and he was well off. I wonder if he knew?

Nope. I wouldn't buy a fake watch period. Many years ago, I used to be a nightclub photographer for DJs and their parties at local clubs (Mostly Latin House/Tech House/Deep House.) and my DJ friend, (may he R.I.P. by the way) told me that he had a Breitling Navitimer that was fake. I didn't think much about it at the time since I was more into photography gear than watches.

Years have gone by and as I learned more about watches and buying watches, you have to realize that 1. It's wrong for someone to sell something that is fake and you pluck down a huge amount of cash to then find out that is a fake later on when you take it in for service. 2. I also learned that buying fake watches involves a lot of criminal activity and all. Not just watches, purses, jackets, chains, all of that. I'm not going to buy something fake knowing that is going into a criminal's pocket.
