Ming 37.05 series 2

Anyone managed to order the new Ming 37.05 series 2 moonphase? What do you think of it?

I like Ming. I had no interest in this one. I think this watch, more even than other Mings, could be interesting in the dark. So it needs good lume.

However, in my experience the lume on Ming ranges from below average to terrible. I have one and had another in the past. How bad it is will depend on the compound used amd how it was applied. I hear their diver glowed really well but one dude was banned from buying Ming forever because he publicly complained that the lume was uneven. He had a point, it was no good for the price so it sucked even when it was good 🤣. All of which is somewhat strange given that they make such a big deal out of photos taken in the dark.

That said, the case of the 37 series is nice. It appears very thin, my 3707 is supposed to be about 11mm thick but it feels closer to 8mm. No exaggeration. They did well with that.

Interesting. The photos of the lume suggest otherwise and it looks so good. Hoping to see how this one turns out in reviews. Thanks for the info!

Well, their founder is a watch fotographer... so it better be great. Maybe their yellow lume is better, but I somehow doubt it. The minute ring (HyCeram or something is used there) is fine, not good but fine.

Looks great right?

Well, that's when you hit it with a UV torch. Shortly after...

Photo was taken the same way right after... it's just for show. Like a runway model it must only look good until the photo was taken 😄

😉 Yeah, it's almost worse in person. But nobody is allowed to say anything publicly without prior inspection by Ming. They will tell you about surface tension and advanced physics and how not even their mighty watches can overcome the fundamental limitations of nature, conveniently ignoring the fact that a Seiko for 100$ has no such issues and the physical limitations are self inflicted due to their choice of manufacturing methods. But apparently thou shalt not bring this up or else thou shalt be banned from buying Ming https://screwdowncrown.com/2021/08/04/ming-watches-and-poor-customer-service/

Maybe that's why no public review calls them out. I don't know. I really like their designs and all but the lume is an absolute disgrace for the price 😮

I put in an order for a Ming 37.05 II! I’ll post some pics whenever it arrives ☺️I’m looking forward to my first Ming!

Super disappointing to hear the lume is lacking, was eyeing up a ming watch, especially that 37.07 with the mosaic dial....
