BB58 or 5 digit sub.

I have found myself thinking about selling my trusty BB58 to help fund a 5 digit sub.  I have even recently borrowed a sub from my buddy to help me finally make a decision.  I actually came close to listing the 58 this weekend but I popped it on my wrist and quickly changed my mind.  I still want a sub but now I can actually see where both of them could fit in the same collection. I guess I need to start saving and maybe sell something else.

If you can swing it, I say go for both! I think they’re different enough to both sit in the same collection.

I just need to quit buying other watches.  Haha

Put the BB58 in a drawer for a week or two and wear something else. If you think about missing wearing it instead of wanting the sub, you have your answer on whether to keep it or sell it.

I did that last week.  That being said, I have a gen 1 orange monster that I haven't worn in months but I can bring myself to sell it.  Haha.

Danny Milton from Hodinkee had a great article on this very topic:

Both are nice watches. I also think they are not easy to compare. Either you want a watch with history and from the past or you want a new watch. The BB58 is clearly a new watch, even if it has an old school alu bezel, but it lacks the charm of vintage. It has the shine of new.

I am more a fan of new watches. But the tube at the crown annoys me at BBs, it always looks like the crown is not screwed in.

So it is absolutely not an easy choice. If you have the chance to by the BB58 at retail price, you cannot get a better deal. The vintage Subs are probably in a bubble currently as the whole vintage and grey market.
