Trouble letting go...

I'm trying to consolidate my collection to the few pieces I actually wear. I'm aiming at a curated, functional collection of 3 watches that cover all the bases I need out of a collection.

With that in mind I have a few up for sale now, but find myself second guessing myself whether I should sell or keep them.

Have you faced something similar?

They're just watches and in the end, don't matter that much at all. Especially in the grand scheme of life...

Note: the photo is where I'm aiming my collection - not what's for sale. I'm just missing the GMT to round it out.

It also makes the post look nicer :)

What about hiding the watches you intend to sell for a few weeks and see if you miss them?

Isn't CW on picture a GMT?

It's a difficult thing. I've had to let go pieces I loved. Some I regret but it's apart of the journey. The beauty is knowing that there will always be more in the future. I prefer smaller currated collections. But everyone is different. Good luck

Yup. It's one I'm considering. I make these little collages to see how it might work together if I were to buy the watch.

I know. Mega nerd 🤓

Absolutely! That's the odd thing. I put them away and don't really miss them (well, maybe my SKX a little bit). Then take them out to list and start second guessing.

This must be what hoarding is like 😂

Thank you kindly! It is part of the journey for sure. Like you, I like smaller, curated collections. Mine is at 8 at the moment and it's way too many for me. It's becoming a source of stress.

I know many some standards 8 is not a large collection. I just mean for me.

And that's what matters. It's about what your comfortable with. 8-10 is probably my max at this time. I had over 20 at one point. Had to cut it down for personal reasons. Now I'm hovering at 7.

3? I don’t think so. Just put them in a drawer for a while. You’ll probably like them again

I currently have 12 watches of different brands. 4 omegas, and a mix of Seiko, grand Seiko, breitling, Laco, and GShocks. When the time comes, the 4 omegas will remain as my core collection.

Yes, I've taken 10-12 out of the watch boxes. Pulled each individual box out to ensure all papers and additional links were 💯. After 2 weeks I put them all back 🙄.

I finally sold one to a Cruncher due to a request about a month ago. It was the nudge I needed. I'm very happy he has the watch and will most likely wear it more often than myself.

I feel indifferent now (it's been about one week. I'm surprised by the feeling and I will start selling a few others so I can focus on the core collection.

Good luck man.
