How does everyone feel about Gearld Genta era/designed/inspired watches? Excluding the AP Royal Oak and PP Nautilus (Credor KZT 014)

I've found that the Credor KZT 014 has a very similar DNA to Genta's work with other brands especially when you consider it being made sometime after Gerald Genta was worked on the Credor Locomotive.

Would you ever get a watch that has a similar profile or DNA to his more well-known watches?

The only decent design Genta ever did was the UG Polerouter.

Owner of an Omega Polaris and Pasha de Cartier so big fan of Genta design language. Would happily put this Credor in the collection!

The Polerouter and Octo are my Genta limit. And even the Octo is weird but I love it.

Yes - many I can admire but aren’t for me. Probably the Polerouter is the one that I might like to own though a tad on the small side.

I would say I admire and respect his contribution to the design and development of wristwatches but I am not in the “worship” camp.

The Polerouter is my favorite design of his, too. But he had a major hand in the Piepan Omega Connies, which I also love (I own examples of both). I can appreciate the Royal Oak, although I find the riveted bezel extraneous. It certainly was influential, although I gather the concept (stainless steel high end integrated sports watch) was dictated by the client, and it is the concept that was arguably the main innovation. The PP Nautilus I cannot stand for the same reasons I question the AP - superfluous elements. In this case the "wing" at 9. Sure, I get how it "balances" the crown guards, but it strikes me as tacked on. Just a question of design philosophy, I guess :) Personally I think his designs got loopier over time, becoming quite gaudy. But hats off to him for having a great career and tremendous influence :)

The UG and C shape Omega's are lovely, but I absolutely can't stand his integrated bracelet shite - especially the Royal Oak and Nautilus.

Would rather have a Casio (which I also dislike, only a fraction less 🤣)

Nope, for me the whole GG fetish is "the Emperor's New Clothes" and the man himself should have been tried for crimes against watchmaking!!

Be glad when the revival fad has passed.

Sorry, but you did ask!! 😅👍

Well, GG managed to achieve at least one thing: to become the one and only watch designer every watch lover knows and talks about decades after he created his big hitters. And this is for a great part because of his designs and what has come of it split the community in two opposing factions: you either hate them or love them. I’m with the haters.
