When it comes to high horology brands:
1: what is your personal favorite?
2: what are some notable strong points/weak points with these individual brands?
3: which one of these brands has the best craftsmanship in your opinion? At these price ranges, you are paying for as much of the material as the craft :)
4: what causes some brands to retain value better than others? Why does Breguet depreciate like a rock?
Thanks all and hope you are well!

My faves are Breguet, for the history, and Moser for the design. In puncto craftsmanship, I believe, at this level, the differences are so minor they're negligible - I have no doubt they're all made to the highest standard. Can't say about the rest, they're a bit too outta my league to give an educated answer.
Breguet AFAIK gets knocked because they have a lapse or two on their CV during the quartz crisis, where ownership and nation of manufacture kind of stopped having a continuous lineage?
My personal favorite is probably Patek Phillippe, although ALS rates a close 2nd.
PP has a tendency to inflate itself a bit -- e.g. ditching the Geneva seal for its own mark.
ALS seems to have a VERY slight edge over Patek.
Marketing. Breguet is a Swatch Group brand sitting near or at the top of their pyramid structure, but it competes with brands that get more "air play."
