What do you recommend? Erebus Vs. Henry Archer

I usually refrain from asking "What watch should I buy?", not because it's a bad question, but because it's a very personal thing and everyone will recommend based on their own taste/experiences/etc. The final answer would likely be “Choose what you like most.” Still, I'm agonizing between these two. I can't count how many times I'd added one to my cart and left for more research 😅 So I just want to know, what would you choose and why. Two watches on my watchlist (no pun intended heh) are "Erebus Ascent (esp Aventurine)" and "Henry Archer Vesterhav." I was looking for a GADA watch around 400$~500$ and these two really caught my eye. Erebus Vs. HA (FYI: my wrist is 6.77" / 17.2cm) [Case] 39mm Vs. 40mm [Lug to lug] 44.5mm Vs. 47mm [Lug width] 20mm Vs. 20mm [Thickness] 11mm Vs. 10.45mm [Water resistance] 100 Meters Vs. 200 Meters [Movement] MIYOTA 9015 Vs. MIYOTA 9019 [Price] 399$ Vs. 499$ [Sidenotes] Erebus don't have any caseback display. PS. Erebus Ascent: https://erebuswatches.com/collections/ascent/products/ascent-aventurine HA: https://henryarcher.com/en-world/collections/vesterhav/products/vesterhav-aquila My biggest criteria except GADA was - slim watches with a simple dial - Preferably, below 40mm case size. I’m almost heading to Erebus, and thinking of buying a HA dive watch later (because I like slim dive bezel!). Plus, they are both a hack of a watch for their prices but I live in Japan and I might have to pay tariff, around 50$ I guess so not a lot but still it’s in consideration. Aventurine dial might not be a great dial for a GADA watch but I always wanted to have one of those. Okay. I’ll stop talking. Let me know what you think! Thank you for your time :) Have a lovely day!

I think the Ascent (any dial variant) is much more elegant. The Vesterhav looks nice, but in my eyes, the dial design hasn't been thought out as well as the competition.

Display case back is nice to have, but IMHO it's enough to have it on one watch, preferrably with a maximum to look at. Not needed on a GADAW.

Both are well sized, with good WR (unless you're a diver, you don't need more than 10 bar).

I agree with you about the display case back! I just became nitpicky while looking at all the reviews on YT haha. Thanks for your precious input!

I’m quite surprised how well Jody has made his watches starting from scratch, and actually executed! Many YouTubers made watches, well one from Indonesia started a kickstarter that didn’t pan out. But I do believe Erebus is serious in being a watch brand. Their first watch was a common diver, very similar to another microbrand Helm Vanuatu I believe, but the Ascent is another level. A GADA, with Grand Seiko vibes, and an abundance of dials.

Good luck with your choice, mate!

I agree! I almost bought one when I saw his release video. I endured my first impulse but it seems more and more attractive when I see one. Thanks for your comment!
