Are “Specs” important on luxury watches?

I realize there are factory set gems and precious metals and some handmade watches take months or years to complete, but they also sell Stainless Steel watches with sapphire crystals for $25K.

Depends on the watch.

The spec and movement in particular were my prime motivation for getting my Seamaster 300.
