Winnie The Pooh, Sears watch from 1975(ish)

A few months ago, I bought this book: "A man and his watch", Matt Hranek.

It's about some watches and their owners' histories with those ones.

One of the watches shown was a small children's watch with Winnie the Pooh from Sears Company. A super simple manual wind watch. Nearly a toy.

My wife doesn't care about watches, not a bit. She has a skin quartz swatch that she liked years ago. I also bought it again, the same model, a few years ago when the first one broke. But she loves Winnie the Pooh bear. She has sweaters, pyjamas, shirts, etc. So, when I showed this watch to her, she said, "See, I like this watch.".

Then I thought, 'Maybe I can get a copy from eBay or someplace similar'. I found a copy, and it was my Christmas present, adding an additional strap and a soft watch pouch. She liked it, but she will not use it. She's not a fan of having to wind up a watch. But... I tried.

Here are some photographs. The movement's like a toy, like an old alarm clock.

Sweet as honey 🍯

Yeah... thanks. Honey is the perfect word here... is it Winnie?

I could be mistaken, but that movement looks like one of the Timex stamped types. I wonder if they made any for Sears?

Thoughtful gift to your wife! 👍

Thank you.

I don't have any idea... I only know that movement cannot be adjusted or disarmed. It's a pity because the watch runs at -36 seconds per day, which is not bad at all with that kind of movement and how old it is.

I love a nice novelty watch even though they don't check any of the boxes that apply to my usual enthusiast preferences. Novelty watches are just pure fun. Cheers on the solid attempt to get your wife interested. And now you have a fun (and likely a bit unique) watch with a beloved cultural character! 🐝🍯

You could apply a few drops of light oil and it may run slightly faster. 👍

Thank you. That was the first battle, I'll try to convert here in the future...

Currently, I don't care. If she were to use it...

I agree, it definitely looks like the old Timex movements. Not a jewel to be found
