Red Alpinist [Scvf005 and Scvf007]

Just got 2 of my sought after grails, the scvf005 and scvf007 red alpinist. Been mulling over if I should get the sarb versions or these and got to the conclusion that the 4s15 hi-beat movement is just too silky to pass over.

Though, I feel that they would do better without the cyclops but who am I to be picky.

Onward to the next grails then... sarb005 and sarb037 where you at....

Love these! Came to the same conclusion when I was deciding between the SCVF007, SPB089 and SARB013, although the smaller size and thinness also played a part for me as this is my only dressy piece (unfortunately the second hand was damaged when I got it serviced so it was swapped out for a SARB017 hand).

I'm now lusting after the quartz red Alpinist SBCJ021 (pic not mine) so we'll see if I can find one for a good price next year!

Oooh. I wanted to get a sarb017 but that cream dial scvf007 is so tempting me now. How much are these watches going for now, if i may ask?

Red alpinist has soooo much history behind it, being the origin of the modern alpinist design plus adding in the factor that these have the 4s15 movement which is hi-beat (king seiko - grand seiko standard) the value here is insane...

But.... given the above these would burn you around 800-1000 USD depending on the condition. So it costs more than the 6r prospex versions but would be relatively within the price of the sarb versions.

Thanks! The prices on these alpinist are just going crazy! But gonna have to look around for that cream dial. As you said, I also love the history and the fact that it's hi- beat.

The SSASS model is gorgeous and I consider it a proper LE at only 500 pieces, but not gorgeous enough for me to splash 3.5/4k gbp on it! Maybe one day

Grail indeed! Im lusting for the diver brothers (?) with the same movement. Hunting for the same cream and black dial pairing scvf 001 and 003!
