WEAR YOUR WATCHES!!!

This morning I woke up with my Pagani Design day date that I forgot to take off from the night before. I work on cars for a living so naturally I start looking for another beater watch to wear to work...

Then I stop myself and think ”Why not keep this watch on?"...

This is why:

1. It has sapphire crystal and 316L steel bracelet.

2. I can clean the watch if it gets dirty

3. If somehow I destroy the watch beyond repair somehow, it's $99 all day on Amazon

4. I know at some point being an automatic watch, I'll need to eventually get it serviced...but it's $99 all day on Amazon so it doesn't make sense for me to ever get it serviced. If it loses time bad enough I might as well get another watch. The cost doesn't make sense unless I were to open it up and maintain it myself for free...but I'm not a watch maker.

5. I just want to wear it today...

Good on ya! Realistically for $99, it will be less expensive to just buy a new one rather than service it. That being said, I truly believe that watches are far more durable than people give them credit for.

Absolutely! I have some other dress watches that I've beat up at work but still get compliments on since only I notice the micro scratches 😅. Durability isn't bad at all.

I’m all for wearing watches rather than being protective or having ‘safe queens‘. And at that price point it is a lot easier to be carefree with watches.

If that was an actual DayDate I doubt you’d have the same attitude towards it. Not saying you wouldn’t wear it but you’d be a lot more risk averse as we all (most) would be.

I always look to folks who have lived life longer than I for daily guidance to sort of live life to its fullest, to live our best possible lives! A older fella that I used to sit with for coffees wore his best timepieces daily even when he was still working as a chef. In fact he made a point of wearing his most adored watches daily to maximize his enjoyment of the tokens. I own a lot of watches and have some more dear than others but wear each and every one as much as possible.

Well if I did actually have a Rolex Day Date I'd probably wear it even more recklessly if I'm being honest. If I can afford to own one I should be able to afford to get it cleaned and serviced too. Just my logic.

My only point would be safety. I wrench on an old car and old motorcycles for a hobby and won't wear rings or watches when wrenching for fear of catching it on something and injuring myself. But wear it to work, put it in your toolbox and wear it home and to bed too!!

Most of my activities at work I can wear any watch just fine, however I also have a simple Casio I keep around to put on if things get crazy at work and I have to get more physical than normal.
