Watch of the Day! 1914 Elgin 0 sized watch. This gorgeous engraved gold filled case matches the Elgin "fancy" glass dial perfectly. The Louis XIV hands are getting harder to find in good condition! The inside of this watch houses a gorgeous gilt Elgin movement that's 110 years young and running just as well as the day it left the factory.

All I can say is WOW!

A beautiful piece of history 👌🏻

WOW, they sure knew how to make watches that are lookers. And “fancy” is an understatement for this dial. I have seen dials like this in pocket watches but not in wrist watches. Was this a conversion?

This dial was most likely from an 0 sized pocket watch originally and then placed into this 0 sized wrist watch case.

That is in line with what I was thinking. The other idea I had was a marriage watch, IE movement, dial and hands recessed out of a pocket watch into a wrist watch. Particularly size if is referenced by movement size.

The gold accents and those hands are truly stunning. Great piece
