Normally I would point you towards Oris or Longines, but have you considered that instead of one watch you could have approximately 666 of these?
Damasko makes great dive watches for around $2000, maybe a bit more, but a great German watch.
Get a CW C65 Dune, it's kinda "diver", but also 38mm and a bit dressy.
Longines, Oris or Christopher Ward would be my go to for that money. There are some other decent microbrands, such as Farer and Baltic etc.
