Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

My father gave me his Poljot 3133 chronograph as a gift. After that I started buying more vintage Soviet watches, as well as from western brands like Timex and Seiko.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

It was a quartz powered pocket watch with a picture of a train on the front of the case. I got it when I was five or six years old. I stopped using it many years ago and, sadly, I haven’t been able to find it.

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

My Poljot 3133 chronograph. My father was an exchange student in Lviv in 1990, a year before the Soviet Union collapsed. He bought it along with 4 other Soviet watches while he was there. It sat unused for 32 years, until he finally gave it to me.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Do adequate research when buying vintage pieces, as there could be fakes depending on how in demand the piece is.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Venezianico and Tissot.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

A Breitling Navitimer, as I hope to one day become a pilot.
