Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

I have been into watches since I was a kid. I remember growing up imagining being able to have a Swiss Made watch someday. Once I got my first, it lit a fire.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

The first watch ever was probably a Casio calculator watch in the early 90s. First serious watch as an adult? A JLC.

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

I have a Treehut watch (one of those wood watches with a quartz movement). My wife got me this watch for a gift on our wedding day. It’s engraved on the caseback with lyrics from the song for our first dance. I have a lot of other watches but that is the most sentimental.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Take your time and don’t pick up too many pieces too quickly. Give yourself time to find your style/taste. Also, don’t pick something up just because it’s hyped. I made that mistake with the PRX. I was only excited for maybe a week or two. Then I was over it.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Omega and Longines most recently. Glashutte Original is always interesting. Also, Breitling is back on my radar with their Premier line. When I was younger I totally wanted a Breitling. But once I could get one, I wasn’t digging any of their models. They’re totally back.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

After really thinking about it, I realized I'm fortunate to already have my grail. I wanted a JLC for a very long time and acquired the watch I wanted in 2022.
