$30 Vintage Titus Watch. Too good to be true?

Hi Guys, I need help.

does anybody know whether this Titus watch is legit?

I saw it on my local used watch shop social media page, being sold for $30

In my opinion everything looks acceptable.. except the back case... the writing on "steel" and "back" seems not promising (correct me if I'm wrong)

Thanks so much !

The thing that seems unusual is that Titus usually had some sort of number (case number or serial number of some sort) underneath the Geneve on the case back. It was a consistent feature for many years. This does not have a number.

I don't know what that could mean. The case back may not be original or it may be. Case back originality may not be the hill that I would die on.

thanks so much man. I'm considering to get this watch, I will try to negotiate. maybe push the price down a little

Stainless steel back means that the main case is plated base metal. These can be subject to significant wear, but this one doesn't look bad, especially for $30

Down from too low?

Another thing to consider is the size of the watch. This may not matter to you, but watches under around 33 to 34 mm tend to be cheaper as there is a smaller market for them

$30 seems pretty reasonable, when I collected vintage during the 80s, $50 cad was a low price for any number of watches that were similar to the watch that interests you. I would grab it.

Lol! I think that you were going to pick up the watch regardless. Vintage is great but I did not have the patience for watchmakers and sourcing suitable straps etcetera. Hope it works out well for you.

Looks suspicious to me. Maybe a frankenwatch.
