Lorier Astra: First Impressions
My new Lorier Astra just came in. I got a good deal on eBay (new/unworn), so I skipped the wait:)! I may post a longer review after a few days of wear, but here are my first impressions so far:
Bracelet looks very nice, but feels a lot cheaper than I expected. Not necessarily bad build quality, but less than I had hoped.
The watch weighs almost nothing. For some this may be a good thing, but I prefer watches with some weight, and I can barely tell I’m wearing a watch this is so light.
The movement is somewhat loud, but no louder than my Baltic Hermetique. When moving my wrist in a normal fashion though, the combination of the watch movement’s noise and the bracelet’s noise is quite noticeable.
Extremely thin profile throughout the bracelet and case.
Beautiful and simple dial, with smaller than anticipated font.
Overall, first impression is middle of the road. I’m not amazed by the looks or build quality, but nothing overly bad sticks out either.
We’ll see how the first few days of wrist time go, and if any of my opinions change I may post an update.

I tried one on at Intersect Atlanta as I was very excited about this model. However I found the clasp very lackluster, and I'm not generally a clasp snob. That kind of dampened my desire to pick one up. However the case and dial are still a stunner.
Hmm, their five link bracelet doesn't really speak to me. I miss the bracelet they did on the first edition of the Hyperion. Looked better and more solid.
