The problem with AP is that it's pretty much a one-trick pony with the Royal Oak, which is itself a fairly polarizing design.  It seems like every time they try to do something other than the Royal Oak, it flops.  Contrast that to Patek and Vacheron, each of which have multiple successful lines (e.g. Calatrava, Nautilus, Aquanaut, Grand Complications, and Golden Ellipse from Patek and Overseas, Patrimony, etc. from Vacheron), and it's not hard to see why folks sometimes discuss the hypothetical removal of AP from the Trinity.

Dang! Thank you so much for your insight! You know alot 🤩👍🏻.. tbh, i kinda hope folks dont remove AP from the trinity 🫣. Bc, AP would die 😭. Its not that bad tho. Gerald Genta should’ve design more for AP before he passed. I mean, look at Patek Phillip ✨.

I think you're overrating my watch knowledge, but I appreciate the compliment.

I find it sad that AP hasn't been able to find its own design language to build a dress watch to match the Calatrava or Patrimony.  JLC has done a better job with the Reverso and Master Control series to establish a brand identity than AP...

That unique yet beautiful timepieces

Hm. I think this is purely a matter of taste 😅 There’s exactly zero APs that I find beautiful. The petition to remove them from the holy trinity gets my signature. They‘ve relied on third party movements and the RO design for too long.

Personally, I can't look past the cut-out of the traditional lines of AP by the current management.

It’s an amazing brand. Not for everyone but I love it🇨🇭🇨🇭
