So this guy managed to take a first-gen 42mm Apple Watch, rip out most of the components, and made it fully mechanical by housing an NH38 movement.
It has a push-pull button for hacking, uses the “Digital Crown” to wind and adjust the time. It has a skeletonized dial even. (Dial surface itself is zirconium, apparently.)
I kinda.. want one? I can at least use all the straps that I have from days of wearing Apple Watch.. 😂

It's definitely an interesting project, but I can't help but feel like it's all of the negatives of an Apple Watch (the looks) with none of the positives (the features).
I can see it's been a great engineering project, but the result is still that slab of the Apple case on your wrist.

I don't know. I like the apple case. It's unusual, not a lot like it.

That's fair. Personally I see it more frequently than any other watch, smart or otherwise, so I certainly couldn't call it "unusual"!

I just mean it’s an unusual case compared to traditional watches. There are square watches I suppose, but not the way Apple does it. Samsung galaxy watch looks more like a traditional watch than the iWatch, for instance.
