Inexpensive Friendship

Picked up this curious little bauble some time ago. During a tidy-up session I ran across it and gave it a wind: it seems to run nicely. Put it on a dark green strap and will soon wear it out and about.

In theory, it was manufactured by Vostok (Восток) between 1954 & 1960 to be sold in China to celebrate friendship between the two states. I say “in theory” because many of these are available from sellers in Central Asia with incredibly similar amounts of wear and patina, and listed as “rare,” sometimes “very” and others “extremely.”

I’m pretty sure it does have a vintage Vostoc #2605 calibre within and, for less than a couple of US sawbucks, a fun piece to wear.
