I went across town today to get a chance to try on a Q Timex GMT I had been considered getting. Timex is not a common brand here in Sweden, so I was happy to find a store that carried them. Now, Timex is not exactly high Swiss horology, but as far as American brands go it has a long history and I respect it.
As for the watch, I'm glad I could try it on, but I didn't immediately fall in love with it. It is a lower priced watch, and it felt like it on the wrist. Very light.
The next watch I tried was one I had already decided will most probably be my next purchase: the classic 39 mm panda Seiko Speedtimer. And man, the feeling on the wrist is just on another level. Absolutely great. Impressed by the bracelet too.
I also tried on another classic that I had tried on before: the 35 mm gold PRX. It is a smart looking watch for sure, and the 35 mm is the right choice for my tiny 6.5" wrists. If I do decide to get one, quartz seems like the right choice, as the PowerMatic 80 doesn't appeal to me.
Lastly, a Certina caught my eye: a dark green DS Action Diver. It looks almost black, unless the light hits it just right. I had seen it online before, but had written it off as probably having too long lugs - but on my wrist it actually wore fine! It immediately shot far up my wishlist. Felt great, wore great. Plus I like the brand. I know Certina is not a well known brand in the US, but growing up I often saw them being the official sponsor/timekeeper on many ski competitions. So the brand has a positive, high-class, sporty image in my mind. That's good brand building.
(P.S. That Seiko Speedtimer? The first one I tried on had a misaligned bezel, true to brand. 😂 But I got to look at another one, which looked perfect. Definitely a watch that has to be bought in person.)

All good choices but I agree with your thinking:

A beauty! 👌🏼
Same here! Definitely a great purchase! Also an absolute strap monster for future style changes 😍

Good to hear! I will have to experiment with that.
I own the Seiko and Certina. Both are fun watches when it comes to straps.
