Hey folks! A buddy of mine gave me this watch today said he found it while cleaning out an abandoned house. I’ve never heard of this brand or seen a watch that opens like this. It does say it’s Swiss made and it has a 17jewel automatic movement. If any one could help shed some light on this timepiece I would be very grateful. Thank you in advance!

This looks to me like a watch designed for the blind. The dial and hands are made to be touched by the wearer, thus the hinged glass and large raised indices.
I just had a fleeting thought of that but dismissed it! Thank you for the inspire!

Watch for the visually impaired. Here’s an identical one with different branding.

I can't tell you anything about the brand. What I can tell you is that it is a watch for the blind or a braille watch, that's why you open the lid and those points that stick out are for reading the time.
Thanks gents I appreciate the information!
The company is Independent Living Aids out of NY. From what I could find, they used ETA movements before switching to quartz. Here's a current one.

I know Citizen and Vostok also sell braille watches. This company has another model that I saw on Amazon. I considered getting it but worried that I would lose one of the bearings.
Are they worth anything?

I don't know but I don't think you'd get much. If it has the older ETA you might get lucky.

The original of this is the Eone Bradley, where one of the tracks is on the outside rim rather than on the face. On the Eone the track openings are slimmer than the bearings so they can't fall out. They have several options now; link.
