Timex Marlin Moon Phase Hydromod

I had been looking for a busy dial with a domed crystal to Hydromod and when I saw the launch of this watch last week I knew she was the one! ☺️ I'm amazed with the result, would love to know your thoughts.

Nice work!

Battery hatch on the back?

It's a screwed on back.

It's a screwed on back.

Oil seep out? I've been wondering about this for awhile, an affordable alternative to U Boat, Ressence, etc.

A Marathon Navigator Steel, with this would be epic.

Whether the air bubble was intentional or not, love it!

Gonna get some questions about it I'm sure, but there's no way around it without an extra bellows behind the scene. No clue how Sinn does it.

Should also help with getting a rough estimate on when/if ambient temp of the watch is too hot/cold.

I removed the back and then pulled the crown out. Filled with oil as much as I could then screwed the back on. Mounted it with the crown hole up and slowly topped it up with a syringe thru the hole for the crown. The last bit takes a while cuz you need to let the air come out the same hole. Put the crown back in once happy

Rog. Wasn't familiar with the model, didn't know if it had the Q style easy access battery hatch.

Don't think it would work as I'd want, but would love to be able to oil fill a quartz, with a quick change style hatch a la the Marathon Navi, CWC G10, or the Q series.

If the batt compartment could be sealed, then you could oil fill the front, and then replace batts as needed, and not have to mess with refilling as much, maybe.

Either way, looks killer my dude! 👌🏻🤙🏻🤘🏻

I love look of the Ressence too, especially the silver one but also the black. That's the look I was going for. The dial is a dark green but the domed crystal is perfect for the raised Hydromod effect . The watch was just over £100 with discount. I have only Hydromodded cheap Casio's before and never had any leaks as long as they state some WR to keep the oil in. The tiny bubble is intentionally left. I removed it once on a Casio and missed it so i put it back in 😂

I’ve seen a video or two where they actually submerged the watch head in the oil without the caseback, agitated the bubbles out using pulsing oil bursts with a syringe, then capped it off while still under the oil. Seemed like the only reliable solution to avoid air bubbles. I have no idea how it works when you pull the crown out to adjust though

I submerged my first few but it's a bit messy and you use more oil this method. I have since found that if you use the correct oil (50cs) and a small blunt syringe needle it's easier to remove the crown and top up the last bit thru the hole before you put the crown back in.

I haven’t seen a hydromod in a while. I’m interested in seeing how it does in the long run, but it looks fantastic. Cool idea to pick this watch! Props!
